Garion Chee
Photographer, Singapore
The photographic practice of Garion is one where architecture, geometry, light and stillness converge.
Not merely about documentation, Garion approaches architecture as a raw visual language - one that can be reconstructed, transformed, reduced and reinterpreted through the photographic frame.
Symmetry, geometry, repetition, perspective and negative space become his compositional instruments, while light and shadow act as agents of visual manipulation, guiding the eye to the designated visual destination.
At the heart of his photographic language and style, is his pursuit of visual balance. His approach is restrained, favouring precision, inviting contemplation and visual silence over excessiveness.
Based in Southeast Asia, the bulk of his work is inspired from locations across Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
While his work has received recognition in international photographic competitions and has been exhibited at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, The Art Space and across various award platforms, his central tenet remains unchanged...
[Interpreting Architecture
Through Geometry, Light and Stillness

Pavilion of Enlightenment
Within a chamber of repeating wooden lattices, a solitary figure sits in mediative stillness before a statue of Buddha
The architecture transforms into a mediative tunnel of symmetry, rhythm and light - guiding the eye towards contemplation and inner silence.
Taken in Bangkok, Thailand, I seek to explore the intersection of structure and spirituality, where morden geometry becames a vessel of transcendence.
Vertical Solitude II
Looking upward through a monumental architectural void within a public housing block in Hong Kong, layers of structural frames recede toward a single luminous square into something more abstract and metaphysical.
The deep blacks suppress the physical identity of the structure, leaving behind only the lines proportion, repetition and light. Against this darkness, the white opening becomes the visual destination - distant, silent and almost otherworldly.
The composition deliberately balances precision with a sense of mystery. Each successive frame draws the eye further inward, creating the illusion of movement through an architectural dimension that has no apparent end.
Celestial Mandala
Celestial Mandala transform an omnate architectural ceiling into an intricate convergence of geometry, ornamentation and richly layered colours.
At its centre, a radial rosette unfolds with hypnotic precision, surrounded by layers of richly decorated panels, repeating motifs and symmetrical architectural forms.
The composition draws the eye progressively inward, from the elaborate details at the periphery towards the quiet point at its core
This work explores the meeting point between architecture and the celestial-where human-made
geometry begins to resemble a universe of its own
